Welcome To Camden

Juniors - Marshall scores hat-trick in Five Star show..

Gary Marshall scored a super hat-trick as the Juniors pre-season fitness drive paid dividends in Camden where they strolled past RCI (Shipping League) on a 5-0 scoreline. Manager Billy Coniry was extremely pleased with the performance especially as the defence kept a clean sheet despite numerous second half changes. Daryl Foley and the experienced Aidan Lehane were also on target. Juniors are home next Thursday night to Greenwood.

Sympathy

The Management Committee of Crosshaven AFC extend their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Anthony McCarthy who has passed away unexpectedly. Anthony played briefly for Crosshaven in the 60's but more recently would be better known as a well respected GAA referee. Anthonys two brothers Frank & Martin also played for Crosshaven. May he rest in peace. Arrangements - Removal on Friday 30th July 7pm from Coburg St to Military Hill Church. Funeral 12pm Saturday to Crosshaven Cemetary.

Crosshaven Ladies turn the tables on Youghal...

Crosshaven Ladies 3 Youghal Utd 1

The last time these two sides met earlier in the season it was Youghal who claimed all three points. Crosshaven knew that a victory in tonights match would put them two points clear of Youghal so the game was set up for a titanic battle. Crosshaven welcomed Trish O'Callaghan back into the team while American Rebecca Kennedy debuted at centre midfield. Out went the injured duo of Christine Murphy & Shannon Daems while Shirley Curran & Lara Fitzgerald were both on holidays. Crosser started the game very well indeed & had Youghal penned back for most of the opening half. Aoife McGrath & Kennedy in midfield were running the show and the home side should have been at least three goals to the good before the break. That half time lead though was just the solitary goal & it came courtesy of some excellent work from Majella McCarthy & her strike partner Michelle O'Connell. A fantastic ball down the wing from Kennedy set Majella racing through on goal. She cut in from the right of the area but her shot was tipped onto the bar by the Youghal keeper. Michelle O'Connell following up made no mistake from six yards and volleyed home the rebound. The second period saw Youghal begin to establish a foot hold in the game although every time Crosshaven pushed forward they looked like scoring. The best chance of the opening 20 minutes of the second half fell to the visitors but it was squandered. Five minutes later Crosshaven doubled there advantage when the hard working McCarthy blasted home from inside the area. With 15 minutes to go Youghal got themselves right back into the game when they scored direct from a free kick. Crosshaven were to have the final say though when American substitute Katie Philpott (also making her debut) fired goalwards from a corner kick Michelle O'Connell was again on hand to deflect the ball past the Youghal keeper to seal the points. Easily one of the best games in Camden in a good while. Well done to all.
