Both the U19 & U11 sides are through to the next round of their respective cups but in differing circumstances. The 11’s were due to play Macroom in Camden Sunday morning. Everyone was togged out & ready but the visiting side failed to show much to everyones’ disappointment. As a result Crosshaven will be awarded the match.
The U19’s faced Cobh in Camden Sunday afternoon & needed extra time to finally see off their harbor neighbours. Brendan Lyden had opened the scoring after being played in by Dean O’Connell. Cobh levelled before the break & at 90 minutes the score remained 1-1. Adam Kiely proved to be the match winner though scoring early in the second period of extra time to send Crosser through.
Last Sunday morning the U11’s faced Springfield Ramblers in the Cup with Crosshaven being major underdogs. From the kick off the game was pretty even with chances at both ends. Midway through the first half however Crosshaven were to make a break through that eventually proved decisive. Following a free kick on the right after Ethan Berkery Kelly had been fouled the ball feel kindly to Rory O’Sullivan who’s shot was turned away by the visiting keeper. Patrick Cotter though was alert to the rebound & slotted home from 6 yards. Adam Power in the Crosshaven goal produced an exceptional stop just before half time & at the break Crosshaven regrouped & got ready for what was certainly going to be a tough second period. The defence stood firm however all through that second half. The two wingers, Cotter & Berkery Kelly relieved pressure with their pace at various times but the defending was top class & when the defence was breeched Adam Power was simply unbeatable. A wonderful team victory with 15 players involved. Man of the Match shared by Ethan Berkery Kelly & Adam Power.
Straight after the U11 game the U13’s were in action against St Marys, also in the cup. This was Crosshaven’s first game in 8 weeks & it showed as the visitors raced into a 3-0 half time lead. Crosshaven though finally found their rhythm in the second period & pulled two goals back before running out of time. Final score Crosshaven 2 St Marys 3.
The U19’s were away in Cobh Sunday afternoon & were comfortable 4-1 winners. Neil Murphy & Adam Kiely made it 2-0 before the break. The home side scored early in the second period but they failed to capitalize on this & Crosshaven pushed on with a brace from Jordan Murphy to seal a comfortable win.
The Seniors who also have played in nearly 6 weeks also found the going tough going down 2-0 to title favourites Ballincollig.
The Girls U16’s also went down away to Ballincollig by 4-1. Emily Kenefick with Crosshaven’s only score.

Crosshaven AFC U11 side move back to the top of the table after a comfortable away victory over Macroom on Sunday morning. Joshua McCarthy playing in an unaccustomed role upfront opened the scoring with a left foot drive across the keeper from 12 yards. Ethan Berkery Kelly was in superb form once more on the wing & he set up Rory O’Sullivan for a super strike to make it 2-0. Rory was to score again before the break with further goals from Patrick Cotter & Ethan Berkery Kelly making it 5-0 at half time. Adam Power in goal for Crosser produced the save of the game just on the stroke of half time when he pulled off a stunning 1 v 1 stop. Further second half goals from Ethan & Christian Byrne saw the game finish 7-2. Best for Crosshaven outside of the scorers were Kai Murphy, Cillian Foster & Ronan O’Donoughue.
Sunday mornings seem to suit the U11’s as they made it four wins from five this season with a comfortable 7-2 victory over Tramore Ath in Camden. Ethan Berkery Kelly fired Crosshaven ahead after just four minutes & when Conor Finn doubled the home sides advantage five minutes later you could tell this was going to be a good day at the office. Patrick Cotter made it 3 before Ethan once more got on the scoresheet. Tramore to their credit never gave up & were rewarded with a goal just minutes before half time but that wasn’t to be the last goal before the break as on the stroke of half time Rory O’Sullivan found the net. Tramore reduced the deficit to three once more just after the break but further goals from Conor Finn & a sublime free kick from Rory O’Sullivan put the icing on the cake.

Despite the brutal weather over the weekend Crosshaven AFC had only one postponement when the Senior game -away to Glasheen was called off due to a death in their club. The U11’s kicked off the weekend with a super 7-0 Cup win over Douglas Hall A (see report below). On Sunday morning Philip Neville & John Mulcahy’s U12’s romped to a 9-0 victory over Ballincollig in the Cup. Robert Twomey, Dylan Gumley, Jack Kennefick & Luke Campbell Brooks getting on the scoresheet in a very one sided game. The U16 Girls recorded a 4-1 home win over Riverstown. Ciara O’Keeffe with two in the first half before a super lob from Caoimhe O’Reagn put Crosser 3-0 up in the second half. Ciara O’Keeffe rounded things off completing her hat trick with 5 minutes to go after a wonderful through ball from Emily Kennefick. Best for Crosser were Sara Donovan in goal & Nikita Purcell. The U14 Boys faced Richmond away Sunday and despite trailing 2-0 early on, they rallied to fight back for a superb 4-3 victory in dreadful conditions. The Juniors faced Bunratty in the Munster Junior Cup Sunday afternoon. They were beaten on a 2-1 scoreline but the performance will give the lads a lot of encouragement going forward. Gavin Rogers with the goal in this one.

The Crosshaven U13s travelled to Cobh Friday night to play Springfield and got off to a great start in their League going 2-nil up with the first goal from Ronan Lawlor and a tip off the head of Dara O'Connell ending up in the back of the net for the second. However Springfield got back into the game and went 3-2 up. Crosshaven never gave up and terrific play from the whole team in particular Peter O'Brien and Jay Kelly saw them digging deep to stay in the game. In the second half Super Sub Robert Twomey raced down the middle and struck the equaliser getting a well earned point on the table for Crosshaven.
On Saturday, Crosshaven U14s had a tough start to their league campaign, away to a very strong Bandon side who beat them 6-1. They had a good first half performance but ran out of steam for the second half. Best for Crosshaven on the day was Ben O'Brien with the goal coming from Jack O'Connell.
Crosshaven U12s were at home Sunday morning for their first ever competitive league match against Avondale. The seasiders got off to a flying start with a great goal from Robert Twomey and a second goal quickly followed from the head of Darragh Kidney. However Avondale came back strong and were 4-2 up by half time. A good talk at half time saw the team quickly focus and Robert Twomey got into top form scoring 3 more goals along with 2 from Luke Campbell Brookes who then went into Goal to strengthen the defence. Overall a terrific performance from all the team as they finished up with a great win 7-4.
Seniors - Lost their first home game of the season against Ballincollig 1-3. Neil Murphy with his first Senior goal for the club. Crosshaven were without the injured Beezer & Behan but on another day could have at least claimed a point.
